#21: To the Moon!
Very few trees can honestly say they’ve been to the moon and back, but this sycamore certainly has! True, it was just a tiny seed when it traveled, but it still counts! I wonder how many other trees I pass every day can say the same? Not many, I’m sure.
While I can’t be sure just from the photo, a group of sycamore seeds traveled all the way to the moon with Apollo 14 in 1971. If this is one of those, it quarantined right along with the crew and was later planted at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in 1976. It’s still there today! Whoa!
