Came to Mind
Mothers are very adept at the long, winding anecdote. You know the one. The story that fails to immediately reach a resolution because mom is talking in circles. Take this mother for instance. She asks her daughter if she remembers Dee “from the campground.” Then, momma proceeded to ask her daughter a series of questions even after the latter confirmed that she remembered Dee.
There was no real point here. Mothers love to throw out descriptors even after you’ve acknowledged that you remember someone. Perhaps they’re merely convinced that you aren’t listening. Because, um, you sometimes don’t listen. But these stories are always funny because mom never really gets to the story itself.
