Jackie Robinson – 1948 Leaf
Jackie Robinson is a legend in both baseball and American history because he was the first black player in Major League Baseball. That isn’t all he accomplished. He made six All-Star teams, won Rookie of the Year in 1947, MVP in 1949, and a World Series title in 1949 while playing for the Brooklyn Dodgers. In 1962, he was inducted into the Hall of Fame.
The fact that Robinson was the first black MLB player to appear on a baseball card made his 1948 issue highly sought after and valuable, especially among collectors. This 1948 Robinson card is also less abundant than other cards from the 1950s. Condition determines the price, but a grade 8 sold for around $75,000 in 2019.
