Ty Cobb – 1909 T206 ‘Bat Off Shoulder’
In 1903, the oldest player on this list, from Narrows, Georgia (that’s why he was known as “The Georgia Peach”) spent the majority of his career with the Detroit Tigers. He is one of just a few MLB players to accomplish the Triple Crown, which entails leading the league in batting average, home runs, and RBIs. In 1936 he was enshrined in Cooperstown.
The T206 cards from the early twentieth century are all going to be extremely valuable. Cobb’s “Bat on the Shoulder” card is sometimes neglected. Prices will differ depending on condition, but a nice one will cost over $100,000.
