Honus Wagner – 1911 T206
We’re almost done with our list. The T206 Honus Wagner is the most expensive baseball card in the world. It’s so uncommon that it’s regarded as the Holy Grail of baseball. Wagner, also known as “The Flying Dutchman,” was a professional player from 1897 to 1917, mostly with the Pittsburgh Pirates.
His 1911 card was printed by the American Tobacco Company, like many others in that era. Wagner demanded that his card be taken off the market. It is said that he didn’t want youngsters to buy cigarettes so they could get his card, although it’s possible he quarreled over royalties. Only a few of them got into circulation, making them extremely rare. The value of one of the puppies is put at $4 million.
