Mysterious Clouds Over Myrtle Beach
On January 7, 2011, beachgoers in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, were shocked to witness an unusual cloud formation that appeared to have punched a hole in the sky. The internet was aglow with speculations as people shared photos of the clouds. Many accused HAARP, the Alaskan facility that some claim has weather-controlling abilities and can trigger natural calamities, of creating the phenomenon.
National Geographic reports that some people believed the strange cloud formation was evidence of extraterrestrial UFOs, while others claimed it was a sign of the second coming of Christ. However, according to one expert, the clouds were most likely created by military planes flying near each other.
