In this world, there are two types of artists: pioneers and copycats. But don’t misunderstand us. While “imitators” may appear negative, they can frequently be exceptionally skilled. They simply aren’t the ones changing the world like the pioneers are. All it takes is a single concept to preserve humanity. TK Devine witnessed the huge numbers of people lining the city streets in tents and cardboard boxes before he started his work as director of homeless services for the Los Angeles Department of Homeless Services. The concerned director had seen an epidemic on a global scale and knew something needed to be done about it. He considered the most feasible means of creating a house that would contain everything needed for survival, including a toilet, bed, shower, some clothing storage, a portable stove, and even running water. It occurred to him all at once. He would turn a portable toilet into a home by converting it into one. That’s true, and he planned to live in a Porta-Home. He is currently residing in a Porta-Home for the year, so check out his amazing tale while he relaxes in his new house.

Something must be done
It all began with a thought. When confronted with issues in society, a man finds that something is horribly wrong. As he looks around and sees lines of homeless youth, adults, and elders camped out along the streets of Los Angeles, he knows something must be done.

For years, Los Angeles has had a homeless problem, and as of 2017, over 55,000 homeless people call the streets their home. Matt “TK” Devine saw it as his duty to assist in solving the problem since he is also homeless.
