Next time an application form has a “Do you understand?” box, don’t check it. By not checking the box, you’re essentially giving yourself permission to do whatever you want while participating in whatever activity it is. For example, Alan Turning answered “No” when asked whether he would go to war if drafted.
He became an excellent marksman while serving in the army but was later released on a technicality when war was declared. Since he didn’t understand that he could be required to fight again if needed, the military couldn’t make him put his uniform back on. He still went to war and even had a law named after him for something completely unrelated.
