The first thing that pops into your mind when you think of monarchies might be the British Royal Family or another European monarchy. However, those are all constitutional monarchies. The countries marked on this map, though, are the few absolute ones remaining.
Many countries, like Brunei, Eswatini, and Saudi Arabia have a monarchy system where one person holds all the power in the state. The Vatican City is an interesting example because technically, the pope classifies as a monarch as well.
