Care for a sandwich?
Jade Hameister is the young woman in the photo, and she set an unprecedented record. At 14, she became the youngest person to ski across the North Pole, the Greenland ice sheet, and the South Pole on skis. The inspiring youngster gave a Ted talk about her adventure and accomplishment, which generated some negative comments.
“Make me a sandwich,” they said. Because women belong in the kitchen, men responded, “make me a sandwich.” She retraced her steps to the North Pole as personal revenge and posted the message that she went back there only “to take this photo for all those guys who commented ‘Make me a sandwich’ on my Tedx Talk. I made you a sandwich (ham & cheese). Now, ski 37 days and 600 kilometers south to the South Pole, and you can eat it.”
