Get Rid of Your Red Ink
Okay, so you don’t have to get rid of all your red ink right away, but it’s not the kind of color pen you’ll use very often (hopefully) and shouldn’t have on you. When writing your name or someone else’s, stick to blacks or blues. At the very least, if they’re still alive.
In Korea, red pens are subject to certain conventions. In their society, writing someone’s name in red ink might represent two different things: either that they have passed away or that you wish them death or bad luck. It isn’t taken as seriously now; instead, it is considered impolite.
