Don’t Help Yourself
Can you believe there are even more rules of etiquette to keep in mind when dining in South Korea? We already know that leaving a tip is inappropriate in a restaurant, impolite not to clear your plate, and inconsiderate to sit or eat first unless you’re the eldest. What else might there be?
When it comes to serving drinks at the dinner table, there are several restrictions to observe. First and foremost, everyone at the table must make sure that the oldest person’s glass remains full. Second, you are not permitted to help yourself to a drink. You may fill others’ glasses, but they must also do so for others.
