Must Eat Past Full
You’ve probably heard the term “eat like a bird” used to describe someone who overeats. They’re pretty much full after a few bites. These people do not belong in South Korea. It is strongly discouraged in this East Asian country for individuals to leave food on their plates because of political issues it has previously faced.
For many years, Korea and Japan were in a state of war, with Korea being effectively annexed by Japan under the 1910 Japan-Korea agreement. As a consequence, people were food-deprived in Korea. So, when you go out to eat or are invited to someone’s home for supper, make sure you don’t overorder or fill your plate.
