Eating and Drinking are Not the Same
Although it is common in South Korea to see people walking the streets with open beers and other alcoholic beverages, there is no eating on the streets. We’re accustomed to seeing this in American cities, where fast food is popular and devouring on the run is considered productive.
There are far less fast-food restaurants in South Korea; hence, outdoor food stands are prohibited. Every eating establishment has space to sit and eat. This is simply another element of their culture, like everything else on our list that we’re unfamiliar with.
