Showing Up Empty Handed
In South Korea, having visitors over is not as popular as in other countries. People generally prefer to have their pals over during their free time rather than just on special occasions. Yet not Koreans. They appreciate their privacy, and asking people over is a rare social event.
If a Korean family invites you into their house, it is an important event, and you should be grateful for the offer. It’s not a good idea to arrive at a Korean family’s home empty-handed. It is courteous to say “Sorry for intruding on your personal space” when someone invites you over.
