Also, there was always a certain level of risk associated with these programs. If you didn’t choose the right file, your family’s computer would spontaneously combust on the spot.
For real, though, Limewire and similar programs were a huge safety hazard for computer owners. That 10 MB file that took you ten years to download? Yeah, that wasn’t just a music video; it probably contained viruses that would literally steal data from your computer.
