Radio Actor
Today, actors can only be found in theater or cinema, but in the past, actors were hired for the radio as well. Before TVs were a household item, before the age of computers, internet, streaming and Netflix, people didn’t have much to rely on for entertainment besides the radio. While today most people only turn on the radio in the car, during the 1920s, the radio was a main source of entertainment.
As such, radio acting was a common occupation. They would read comic or dramatic monologues into the microphone, accompanied with appropriate background music, and it would almost feel as if you were at the theater listening to a play. Radio actors are no longer around these days, but voice-acting is still a profession.
