Billy Boys
Some things never change, and one of those things is the tradition of the apprentice fetching drinks for his superiors. In a way, the Billy boys resemble the interns at large firms, serving Starbucks coffees to the people at the office. During the fifties and sixties, the Billy boys were young men who worked under apprenticeship, and their main responsibility was making and serving tea.
Preparing the tea was a heavy duty; you had to learn how to make the best cup of tea and master this art of hot beverages. The Billy Boys actually memorized the tea-making techniques in order to get it right every time. While Billy boys are no longer around per se, you can say that coffees shops baristas are Billy boys of sorts, as they specialize in the art of preparing hot beverages.
