Telegraphist
A rather popular tool of communication during times of war was the telegraph. The telegraph allowed you to communicate through radio in an encrypted language, using Morse code. Working as a telegraphist was a financially rewarding job, since it was considered a job of the utmost importance.
During the late 19th and early 20th centuries, telegraphist was considered a luxurious job, and to this day, it’s considered as one of the first high-tech positions in history. Although telegraphs and Morse code are largely out of use in our days, since better technologies came along, some people in the field, such as amateur radio operators, still learn Morse code.
