Daguerreotypist
Today we have our selfies, before the infamous selfies came along we had the mirror selfies, and long before that, daguerreotype was the first and only photographic process available. Widely used during the mid-1800s, daguerreotype was a rather long and inconvenient way of producing photographs, but people didn’t know any better.
The people who took the photos and developed them were known as daguerreotypists. The chemical process involved several stages of preparations before taking the photos, operating the camera and then developing the photos. Over time, simpler and cheaper photographic processes were available, which finally put an end to the daguerreotype.
