Hobbler
Throughout the centuries, the term “hobbler” was used to describe different occupations. In the middle ages, hobblers were the people in charge of maintaining horses for battles. However, during the 1800s, hobblers was the name of people working with boats in rivers or canals. Their job was to tow the boats or ships back to port.
It was a physical job, which is why most hobblers were young, strong men. They were in charge of towing the boats inside and outside the water. This occupation is long gone, and the term “hobblers” has gone with it, although we must say it caught on for a very long time.
