Lamp Lighter
Lamp Lighters are no longer necessary, since electrical street lamps were introduced, but you could still find them here and there, in places where gas street lamps are installed. It’s a rare sight, but lamp lighters are not entirely gone from the world just yet. However, back in the early 19th century, this was a rather popular occupation.
Street lamps ran on oil, gas or even candles (those were the less-sophisticated lamps), and it required people that would light and maintain those street lamps. Lamp Lighters would attend the street lamps every evening, lighting the lamps using long poles, and they would return at dawn to put out the lights.
