In a world where the average life expectancy reported by the UN is around 72.6 years, many don’t make it to this age. Furthermore, very few even make it to 100 years old. However, the people on this list have managed to beat all the odds, with most having lived 110+ years. Not only do most of them reach the 110 years old mark, but most of them also do so in reasonably healthy conditions. Of course, there is an exception of a few that may suffer hearing or eyesight loss here and there. Even more interesting is that some are physically active until their early 100s. These people have been officially validated for their age, so their ages are credible. Join us as we inform you about the very few that have managed to outlive the average human life expectancy. For some, it’s all thanks to a healthy lifestyle and some just sheer luck!
Jeanne Louise Calment 122
To kick off the list, we have the oldest verified person to ever live. Jeanne was a French woman born in 1975 and lived until she was 122 years old in 1997. An interesting fact – her mother, father, and brother have all lived past the age of 85. One of the reasons that brought her fame was her encounter with the world-renowned Dutch painter Vincent Van Gogh.
This led to her starring as an actress in the movie Vincent and Me in 1990. This made her the oldest actor to appear in a movie. What’s even more surprising is how she remained physically active even in the later years of her life. She had always been an active woman who participated in sport, taking up fencing in her 80s and cycling in her 100s.
