Blanche Cobb
Born in Jesup, Georgia on 8 September 1900, Blanche died on the 1st May 2015 at the age of 114 years, 235 days. At the time of her death, she was the world’s eighth-oldest living person, the fourth-oldest American resident, and the second-oldest living Floridian behind Antonia Gerena Rivera.
Cobb met her late husband when she moved to Folkston; they got married in 1920. She had 13 children with her husband and went on to have many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. When her husband passed she vowed to never marry again. Cobb recognized her long life and good health was because of her love for God, the people in her life, and potatoes (vegetable royalty). She also had an open-door policy for all and was a very loving and kind Christian woman according to her family.
