If you’re anything like me, you look at this packet and start drooling. The promise of five flavors, each one a distinct and bright color, each one tantalizing the palate in a different way, is enough to send me running to the store. The beautiful symmetry of all five lined up one after the other is enough to make you hungry for candy.

Finding out that this packet “may vary” is just short of heartbreaking. The possibility of not acquiring every flavor, the uncertainty of not knowing which it is that you may lack, is almost too much to bear. And no, this little warning on the side of the packet is not enough to avoid heartbreak.
