#8: Gluten Free Means “Contains Gluten,” Right?
Free is a word that has all sorts of meanings, so is it possible that the well-intentioned creators of this delicious-looking chocolate chip cookie just had a different meaning in mind when creating this package? Maybe they meant that this is a gluten cookie offered for free – a free Gluten cookie.

Suppose this is indeed the case (and I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt, although it is highly unlikely). In that case, I have a request for food production companies, or any corporations that sell their products to the public, for that matter – please hire linguists. Ask them about ambiguity and ensure you’re sending the message you want to.
