Remember to keep Your Ego in Control.
Even if you were in the same circumstances as them before your own, you might be condescending to someone who hasn’t gone through the same things that you have. Assume that someone hasn’t read or watched one of your favorite novels or movies, and don’t react badly.49
It is best not to say things like, “I can’t believe you haven’t seen this!” or “I can’t believe you haven’t noticed that!” to avoid making them feel embarrassed or dissatisfied. However, if you can convince them that they would benefit from it, they may agree. Belittling someone because he has not read the book of your choice is certainly rude; whereas igniting the interest of the person to read the book is the best way to go about it.
