#48: Clair Cameron Patterson
These are the unsung heroes that we really need to be applauding. The people who were just quietly doing their jobs but doing so with such determination and diligence that they ended up changing the world. The geochemist who discovered lead poisoning and campaigned against it is no exception.

I wish I could be more like Clair Cameron Patterson. It just feels like nothing like that will ever happen to me. I don’t know if I’m not talented or smart enough, or just never in the right place at the right time. The fact that he worked his whole life toward this particular thing probably made a difference…
