I suppose it only makes sense that innovations take a while to be recognized. People tend to reject things that are a little strange or break our conceptions of what is acceptable and normal. But you’d think we may have learned our lesson by now and started employing a little more open-mindedness.

I know, I know, we all think that we are open-minded already, but I can pretty much guarantee you that if someone were to come up to you or me and say they’ve made some special peas and that they hold the key to genetics, we’d probably react with cynicism. We’d probably tell them to climb a beanstalk.
