Pacific Southwest Airlines, the 1970s
Flying these days is not what it used to be for passengers and flight attendants alike! These two flight attendants are disembarking from a Pacific Southwest Airlines plane in the 1970s. PSA’s famous tagline was “The World’s Friendliest Airline,” and their smiles and fun uniforms seem to prove it. They even had smiles painted onto the nose of their planes.
Flight attendants who worked for this airline have many stories of how fun it was to work there. They were encouraged to joke with passengers and make everyone feel welcome. This fun environment even carried over to employee uniforms. These attendants are wearing some fabulous orange and pink dresses and plane captains were encouraged to wear Hawaiian shirts sometimes.
