#14: Boundless Depths
This is the Island of Mauritius, and what you see is called the Catarata Submarina – an underwater waterfall. In truth, it’s an illusion, but that doesn’t stop the human eye from seeing an unending drop into the unknown. Locals swear it’s safe to swim over, but I’m not so sure I’d take the chance.

The island is just off the coast of southeast Africa, near Madagascar. Due to its overwhelming beauty and persistence, it’s considered one of the most prosperous countries in the world for its size. Although it’s only 40 miles long, it’s a popular tourist destination and imperative for the fishing industry.
