#27: Industrial Sized Chains
Have you ever wondered how big the chains that anchor large ships are? Well, now you know. It really does make sense, as a regular-sized chain would not be able to hold the weight of a large tanker or supercarrier. It’s still insane to see them compared to the size of a human, though.
Megalophobes would truly struggle with this for many reasons. Not only are the chains large, but the ocean is vast, the ships are huge, and the anchors? Well, let’s just say they make these chains look like child’s play in comparison. The anchors weigh 30,000 pounds, while each link of these chains alone weighs 136 pounds.
