#34: Wrong Forest, Sequoia
While megalophobes might be put off, the rest of us have to feel a little bad for this tree. It’s so far above the rest! This is a California redwood, a type of sequoia that grows 2-3 feet per year in the right conditions. Apparently, this one is pretty happy to be amongst all the pines.

These trees can grow up to 250 feet tall, with a 30-foot diameter. In comparison, those pines you see only grow about 30-50 feet tall. Both trees are indigenous to California, but many people confuse the California Redwood Sequoia with the California Giant Sequoia because they’re similar in height but have many differences.
