#38: It. Moves.
That free-standing building with the two tiny people for size comparison? It’s not a building at all. It’s the most oversized land vehicle on earth. Megalophobes, beware! It’s the RWE Bagger 288, and it’s a bucket-wheel excavator from your nightmares. Standing 311 feet high and 705 feet wide, it weighs as much as the Titanic!
Initially, it was made for coal mines in Russia, but more recently, it’s being used to move actual mountains and find buried gold. Don’t worry about it chasing you, though. It moves at a snail’s pace of .3 miles per hour. However, it’s heavy enough that if it has to cross a road, the road must be rebuilt, as the average asphalt and cement cannot uphold the 45 thousand tons of metal.
