Bomb Proof Road – North Carolina
We’ve seen worse street names than this, but it doesn’t make it any more pleasant. We’re pretty sure we had nightmares if we lived on Bomb Proof Road – the word “bomb” is so terrifying, that adding the word “proof” doesn’t provide any reassuring. We don’t know about you, but it doesn’t give us the most pleasant associations.

The story behind the name dates back to World War II. With Fayetteville being so close to Fort Bragg, Bomb Proof Road is a name that certainly fits. In 1961, a thermonuclear bomb actually slammed into a farm in Goldsboro, which is a little over an hour from Fayetteville. That’s scary–but I guess if you lived on Bomb Proof Road, you’d be just fine.
