The 1970s are generally known as a time of racial tension across the country. African Americans saw that the early years of civil rights advancement didn’t necessarily bring with them similar advancement in the economic or social spheres. Yet this photo shows us a different side of the story.

As far as we can tell, this NYPD officer is playing a game of Duck Duck Goose with these children in the middle of New York. Of course, there’s always the possibility that she’s just undercover, getting ready to arrest them all, but I prefer to look at the picture with innocent eyes.
