#30: Casual Commute Across the Bay
This historical snapshot might be more significant for its similarity to the modern day more than for its difference. These travelers on the Staten Island Ferry in 1895 are really not so dissimilar from today’s equivalent commuters (if you factor out the anachronistic dress code and the contents of their newspapers).

Likewise, the ferry itself doesn’t look so dissimilar from the ones that can be seen crossing the bay today. I’m sure there are all kinds of differences, not the least of which being the progress from steam powered ferries, but overall the ride might not have changed that much, and it’s a pretty scenic one.
