MetLife Madness
This company took, “Tell us about yourself,” to a whole new level. One person shared that the insurance company MetLife got really weird, really fast, during an interview about twenty years ago. They demanded that he provide a comprehensive contact list of no less than one hundred family and friends.
Beyond interviewing for the literal FBI, we can’t imagine a hiring situation where this much personal information is necessary. It may have been part of MetLife’s vetting process for security purposes, but that many points of contact is excessive. Our storyteller “noped out of that quickly,” because giving that much personal information made him feel uncomfortable.
