Wearing Many Hats
There are plenty of red flags that you can find in a company’s job description. This is actually good news because it can save you time when job hunting. For example, avoid applying to any jobs that say something like, “you’ll be wearing many hats.” Nine times out of ten, that means a company will give you the work of more than one person but won’t adjust your pay accordingly.
There are probably some people out there who don’t mind juggling the responsibilities of more than one position. However, it’s important that people are fairly compensated for the work they perform. “Wearing many different hats” is a company attempting to make “we overwork and underpay you” sound way more appealing than it actually is.
