Turnover City
This goes without saying, but it’s a major red flag if an interviewer brings up severance packages… in an initial interview. Yup, that happened to this person! The person conducting the interview shared that the company had generous severance packages for people who get fired. This person immediately ran the other way.
Why would a potential employer share their severance information with a person they haven’t even hired yet? This red flag could mean a few things. It could mean the company has a huge turnover rate, and, therefore a toxic work environment. It could also mean the company constantly does “pump and dump” hiring, where they hire a bunch of new people, make revenue, and then lay everyone off to save money.
