Reddit Users Share Red Flags That Point to a Toxic Workplace Mentality

An employee’s lunch break is their own personal time during the work day. If you want to go off campus for lunch, run some errands, or make personal phone calls, it’s within your right as an employee. Just make sure you make it back to work on time! This storyteller recently left a job that looked down on any personal time whatsoever. 

Their coworkers said things that were immediate red flags. One of them was that they should bring their own lunch to work. The employer didn’t like people leaving for lunch because “they’re afraid you’ll never come back.” That situation had obviously happened before, or else that wouldn’t be an unspoken policy. Imagine how bad a workplace must be that people just bail halfway through the day!
