A 13th-Century Curse
If you don’t believe in curses, this might change your mind. The Grimaldi royal family of Monaco is said to carry a curse preventing any family member from having a truly happy marriage. This curse came about after a 13th-century prince kidnapped and violated a sweet maiden, who then placed the curse on the prince’s descendants. It seems Princess Caroline’s experience in the marriage department might be proof that the curse is alive and well.
Princess Caroline has been married three times, and all three times it didn’t play out as a “happily ever after.” Her first husband was unfaithful, her second husband passed away in an accident, and she allegedly wants to divorce her current husband, Prince Ernst of Hanover. The couple announced their divorce way back in 2009, though, so who knows if it’ll ever happen.
