#2: Nitrogen Narcosis
Learning how to deep dive is no joke; you must pass a deep dive certification course to go below a certain depth in the ocean. There are a lot of risks and dangers involved, so it’s vital to know how to safely deep dive. This storyteller went through a certification class and felt pretty confident- until things went south.
When it was time to slowly ascend to the surface, their instructor realized something was wrong. This storyteller was experiencing nitrogen narcosis, which is a common danger of deep diving. Inhaling the gas made them confused, and they were actually swimming deeper down into the ocean instead of up to the surface. Thankfully, the instructor noticed and saved them, but that could have had a horrible outcome if this storyteller had been alone.
