#23: Strange Creatures
The ocean is home to up to 80% of life on Earth. Let that sink in for a minute. Since humans have only explored a tiny fraction of the deep sea, there are bound to be some pretty spectacular and odd-looking animals out there that we know nothing about. There is one freaky-looking ocean animal that humans have laid eyes upon, though. Meet the Bobbit worm.
Scientifically known as Eunice aphroditois, this creature stands out because of its purple iridescence. They are predators with no eyes and five antennae and live on the ocean floor in warm water. One Reddit user ran into one while diving once, and it freaked her out. They’re pretty much harmless to humans – but don’t get too close.
