Signs of Global Warming

April 13, 2021 by Jesse Olson

Whether you believe that global warming is happening because of human beings, or it’s just part of the natural heating and cooling process of the planet, we’re here to share some signs of global warming with you.

These signs of global warming can be seen in various regions of the world and are meant to help educate you about global warming so you can revisit some habits you have in your daily life.

Arctic Sea Ice is Diminishing

The Arctic Sea ice has seen an overall decrease of 3.2% each decade. While there’s no consistent record of it being lower and lower, as some months seem to be less than the previous year while other times that current month could be more than the previous month, we’ve seen the ice diminishing as an overall trend.

Warmer Oceans

Scientists have been studying the temperature in the deeper parts of the ocean to find that our oceans are warming up. This can be assumed to be happened due to our atmosphere being warmer. More carbon monoxide released into our atmosphere means less chance for the ozone layer to filter it.

Increased carbon monoxide levels have been a significant source for warmer oceans. This is a huge reason many corporations are trying to reduce the number of fossil fuels they burn.

Global Sea Levels are Rising

You’ve probably heard about the sea levels rising but don’t quite see the impact in your region. Most people that live near the sea have seen the sea water slowly creeping into their yards. The overall level of the sea has increased by .04 to .01 inches per year since we’ve been documenting the rise.

The main reason for global sea levels rising is the warm ocean temperatures. Warmer water expands more than cooler water.

More Water Vapor

Scientists have measured more humidity in the area overall on the globe. This means more water vapor in the air. The extra water vapor in the air means that when it’s hot in your region then it feels hotter. The water vapor increases the temperatures across the globe so it’s a sure-tell sign that global warming is occurring.

Water vapor is a greenhouse gas, and with extra vapor, in the air, the ozone layer can’t do its job as efficiently as it has in the past.

These are just some of the signs of global warming. We’re sure you’ve experienced or witnessed some of these signs in your region of the world. Whether this is a normal occurrence for our planet or human beings are causing it is still left to be debated. Although, it’s common sense to say that our practices as human beings do play some role in the warming of our planet.
