#20: A Leave You Can Live With
It’s a terrible shame that support for new parents isn’t more universal in the USA. Under the Family Medical Leave Act, parents of newborns or newly adopted children are allowed to have up to 12 weeks of unpaid leave, but because of financial need, many take far less time than that.

After all, a lot of people simply can’t afford to not get paid for three months. We should follow the example of a lot of other countries, where the law requires that parental leave be paid, at least partly.
