#29: That’s Not a Universal Thing?
In American TV shows and movies, we sometimes see school kids singing the national anthem every morning in school, or reciting the pledge of allegiance to the flag. While that’s something that happens in some American schools, it’s not a ritual that takes place in every school across the country, and it’s not always mandatory.
One person was surprised to find out that’s not something that happens across the globe, but rather it’s a strictly American thing. The point of this ritual is to express patriotism and appreciation for our great nation, which isn’t necessarily a bad sentiment, unless it’s forced on you.
