A Breathtaking Example Of An Abandoned Synagogue That Has Been Reclaimed By Nature
A former Ashkenazi synagogue in Romania, the Great Synagogue of Constanta was constructed between 1910 and 1914. It served the Ashkenazi Jewish community. The synagogue in Constanta went into neglect as the number of city residents who identified as Jewish decreased, and today just three of the building’s original walls remain standing.
The damage caused by mother nature was compounded by the fact that the synagogue was neglected by the local government in comparison to other synagogues in the neighboring districts. The majority of the lovely stained glass has been broken, and the structure is dangerously close to collapsing, despite the fact that it appears to be stunning from this vantage point.
