Technological development has touched healthcare, science, machinery, and yes- animals too. Humans have raised animals for thousands of years in order to eat, but only in the past 100 years did this process become a true science. Broiler chickens today are bred to be bigger and better- in order to provide people with higher quality meat.
Systems for the processing of meat has been industrialized and streamlined, allowing for this. Luckily, we are also seeing a trend of farm raised and more ecologically friendly and human practices for raising chickens. Today, meat is even being grown in a laboratory setting so it’s possible that in another 100 years we will not be raising chickens at all.
