Sick Leave
I’ve read this next story like six times, and I still can’t quite make sense of all of it. It seems this particular “lady of the night,” which is such a great phrase, worked part-time at this fast food restaurant but called in sick, so the writer of this story had to come in and replace her. So far, so simple.
The next part is the bit I can’t quite make sense of: she then came back to the restaurant where she was supposed to be having her shift and didn’t seem to realize at first what she’d done? The first rule of calling in sick is you make sure you don’t go anywhere that your coworkers or boss might see you.
